A Lunchtime Lesson

Here is a little example of my daily confusion:

Me: What is the word for fruit in Vietnamese?
Cô Bảy: Quả
Me: (attempting to repeat it) Quà ?
Cô Bảy: No, that is gift. Would you like the quả or quà ? (said while laughing with me)
Me: Oh...is it qua ?
Cô Bảy: No, that is last. Also, qụa means a crow and quá is too much/very. Quả is fruit.
Me: ...................oh................ok.

In the end, I think I figured it out. Maybe next time I can ask for fruit successfully!
